-Starlight was raised in a small mountain town
-Made friends with one of the local colts named Sunburst and it can be summarized he was the only friend she made
-After receiving his cutie mark he leaves his home and town and Starlight never to them either again
-Starlight becomes increasingly bitter and resentful, teaching herself magic and becoming more powerful
-Starlight leaves that town too to make a better one
-While lost in the mountains she finds Double Diamond
-Starlight creates a new town filling it with similar ponies who felt like the world wronged them
-She becomes their new leader and magically takes away their talents away making them "equal"
-the Mane six arrive (i.e. Twilight and friends) and stop her
-She becomes bitter and angry towards them and plots vengeance
-She learns Starswirl's time manipulation spell
*NOTE:These next couple points are from her most recent canon point)
-Starlight finds Twilight and rewrites her history intending they never become friends
-Twilight takes her back to future and is horrified to learn it's a barren wasteland
-Time is set back feeling remorse for her actions
Personality:Starlight is sorta an amalgamation of various personalities, making kinda hard to pin point how much of it is genuine or an act. Starlight's first and foremost clever and she knows it, often using her smarts to shift and manipulate things to her favor. Her greatest attribute is her silver tongue and generally being a convincing speaker; knowing exactly what to say and how to say it, helped by her keen eye for detail picking up on subtle mannerisms that would otherwise be missed which has helped her weed out various lies and tricks that would otherwise ruin her plans
Using her own determination and will she's crafted her magic to an art rivaling even the most powerful magic users in Equestria. Her self-reliance is a major attribute to most of what she's accomplished in her life, everything from honing her magical skill, to building an entire town (from presumably the ground up) she's done on her own. This determination however is partly because she hasn't trusted anyone since childhood, when her first and only friend, "Sunburst", left her behind in favor of going to Canterlot. She felt abandoned she grew cold distancing herself away from any relationships in fear they would break apart if they tried to make one. Even when she had a "second in command", she never actually told him anything and essentially just made him a lookout.
Because of this Starlight herself is very emotionally reserved and distant, rarely showing her true emotions and putting on a fake smile to make herself more welcoming and comfort others. Starlight's afraid of being involved with any kind of relationship, fearing becoming too attached will only lead to heartbreak as they drift away for one reason or another. When she does show her real feelings they come out in rather large bursts, notability out of anger or fear, anger in particular had lead to many decisions in her life like when she left her hometown to harness her magic.
Her will has also lead to a bit of an ego, believing herself to be Equestria's unsung hero that would lead them to bigger and greater future. With this mixture of anger and ego she spent months alone harnessing her magical skill to take revenge on Twilight and her friends, becoming outright obsessed with plans of revenge. It eventually took Twilight forcing her to go forwards in time with her to see and put into perspective how cruel and petty she was, which horrified her.
Despite how much she doesn't (or didn't) trust anyone, she genuinely believes she is what's best for Equestria, ushering in a new age of fairness and equality or "discovering real friendship". The whole reason she built that town was because she believed it to be a safe haven for the downtrodden ponies of Equestria who felt they had no purpose with their cutie marks. She can even be downright motherly in front of children given the right circumstances, stopping bullying right when it happens.
Starlight is a product of years of bitterness and feeling abandoned. She's smart, strong willed, and empathetic but uses all that to manipulate and perpetuate her own delusions of grandeur. Blinded and fueled by bitterness, Starlight couldn't see her own faults and the effects they had to herself and the world. It wasn't until she saw the effects on full display did she finally realize her mistakes and aims to make up for them
Gem: A pink pearl: Pearls are meant to symbolize everything from luck, to knowledge, to protection and purification. All things Starlight wants to aspire to be for herself and others.
Power Considerations:
-Gem weapon summon- The Staff of Sameness (it's just a weird stick)
-Telekinesis-Pretty straight forward, picking up things in her equine mode without her mouth, the heavier it is the harder it is.
-Crystal beam-A laser from her horn that can trap or encase whatever is unlucky enough in a crystal covering
-Time manipulation- Controlling various aspects of time (stopping, going backwards/forwards, ect) but initially it will only affect a few minutes at the most for each.
